What's going on in the former strong-house of Mackay? The rumours are it's a men's build with no women's coach as yet?

2 final season core players with a at best bench player.....There will need to be 4-5 players come in(likely) at a HUGE cost.

Add another 4-5 to the women including 2 imports and a paid women's coach and still likely to miss the 4 in both.

      Over to you JK!

Having triple the budget of Townsville & Cairns will give them a hope based on the recruit.

Just gets worse for Mackay at 18's classics.

The VP gets ejected in Div 3/4.

Has there been any confirmation of what the lower tier comps will be yet? I last heard that QSL potentially only had 5 teams, which I'm guessing isn't tenable. Will there definitely be QSL + SBL / will there only be SBL etc?

QSL 1 sounds good in theory but I can’t see it working. So far only Gladstone, Bundaberg, Northside, Runaway Bay and Rockhampton are the 5 clubs that I have heard are interested.
The other south clubs aren’t going to waste money on imports/recruiting for a second tier comp when that money can be used for NBL1 costs.
Can’t see how Runaway Bay driving north 6-9 hours every other week is going to be a smart move budget wise for them?

And before you blame Mackay basketball workers for this post, just realise that as a spectator there were some concerns with some of the changes made within the last couple of years that were clear to those that support Mackay basketball.

As a (1) spectator out of 1,100 in a sellout please don't act like you speak for the fan base. The team went 14-3, 15-3, and 11-7 over the past 3 years. Average players like Washington, Cedar, Walker, Bruce, Tragardh, Blanchfield, Robinson, Diop?

You just drop words like "chaos" and "changes" without any explanation lol

Well if you didn't like him champ he's gone now. The club has the same budget and can run it just how you like. The league is extremely tough and certainly not as easy to run a team as you've eluded it is.

To true, Rip has no junior base or social comps and they can still put teams in because all of their focus is on NBL1 and sponsors.

You can do whatever you like and even have both if you want. Gold Coast do a great job of having a huge junior base and large sponsorship base too. You obviously don’t flip a switch and get to Gold Coast’s level, but you can grow both aspects and don’t have to criminalise wanting to do either.

Smart move by Seahawks they had cash stolen by previous gm ( allegedly ) and we now when you don’t have a big senior base it’s hard to pay the way for the huge cost nbl1
