So the grand finals were a decent spectacle. Not too often you get the same two teams at the same venue, and close games to boot.

The women started at a quick pace and the Wiz looked like they'd run away with the game, leading 17-6 midway through the first period.

Scoring would dry up after that and the game was pretty much a grind with Maroochy hanging in and slowly climbing off the canvas. They tied the game in the third quarter and from there it was neck and neck. A few lapses on both ends in crunch time sealed the Wizards fate, Maroochy win 51-48.

The men's game was pretty good. Disappointing that Maroochy were missing both Bede and Darnell but you wouldn't have known the way the team played.

Janssen was a beast early and scored 14 of Maroochy's first 18. His scoring dried up in the second and third periods as the Wiz game him instant double and triple teams anywhere close to scoring position.

Game was pretty tight through apart for a brief period in the third when the Wiz led by 11, only to have Maroochy pull it right back.

Janssen came alive again in the fourth and Maroochy had the momentum leading 70-66 with three minutes left. Wiz made some super tough buckets inside and tied the game with 8 seconds left in regulation. They forced a Maroochy turnover and had two seconds to score from the inbounds after a timeout but an ambitious alleyoop play didn't come off.

Tight again in overtime. Maroochy down 1 with 8 seconds left when Janssen went to the line. Excruciatingly missed both, both teams scrambled for possession, Wiz eventually got it and were fouled. Foul was assessed unsportsmanlike. Missed both freebies but they got the ball back so the game was pretty much sealed.

Thanks for the review, can't comment on the women's league but the SBL was great this season, probably one of the closest. Any team in the Top 6 could have won it. Probably Wizards experience and consistency (plus a bit of luck in the dying seconds of both games) got them their second win in 3 years.
It is a shame each year the Clippers put together a great squad for the second half and then first round of the playoffs. They could probably have 2/3 titles if the players were there for the whole season.
As a Rip fan it was a gut wrenching loss in the semi final, full credit to the Wizards for capitalising on it.
One more week of QBL and then the summer break.
Can't wait for the season to kick off again.

Asking cos don't know. Janssen flew back to the States the next day. Why couldn't Darnell do the same? Do programs need their players back by an exact date?
