Pretty sure it was the new coach that told him, but Board would have supported it.

Legan should sign in New Zealand or SEABL, step it up a notch after years of dominating with useless Toowoomba and Ipswich

Yeah he definitely deserves a Leg up. Only issue is that to play in those leagues you need to be able to play Defence.

Vdogg to coach Gold Coast Women - Good pick up for the Gold Coast. Steve Weiland blooded some young kids last year so that year under tutelage should assist in taking additional steps this year. Vdogg will attract some talent to the coast and is a proven coach at this level so looking up for next season.

Bronwyn Marshall to coach Brisbane next year. This is an interesting pick up for the Caps. Bronwyn is a proven player in her day and has from what I understand done some junior coaching but will be interesting to see if she coach at state league level.

SD Women - I believe are losing a huge amount of there players!!!! In saying that they have a huge budget and will attract some talent through the almighty dollar.

Enjoy the womens comp so will update again for those interested.

VDog deserves his shot with a big budget. Heard the GC is backing financially the women’s program this year exclusively. Using that Torrey Craig NBA money let’s see how deep he can go in the playoffs.

There is 0% chance the GC will finance the women exclusively. The Men are probably in worse shape, at least the women have established a young team to grow forward.

Massive pick up, being a development player he will be 5 points, with most their squad being brought in will they have points room?

Good pick up, not sure it is massive. He last played for Tville in the QBL so glad to see he is returning there. I don't think there are too many Qld teams scrambling for his signature to.

OUR TRIBUTE: Blair Smith was someone to look up to

NOT long after Blair Smith was appointed as the Port City Power men's head coach ahead of the 2017 season, I knew straight away that people would look up to him.

And it wasn't because of his 200cm frame, which saw him play 283 National Basketball League games.

It was because of his infectious and happy persona.

Win, lose or draw, Blair would always front up for a post-match press conference.

He would tell it like it is and was one of those coaches who would draw positives from any negatives of the match.

He was never difficult to get answers from, even when the Power lost.

Without knowing him that well, I suspect this was an indication of the person he was.

A loving man married to Rebecca and father of two children, Blair took on the role as interim coach during the final matches of the 2016 season after then-coach Brian Waters' sudden departure.

Blair took to the role with aplomb and committed to it full-time in 2017.

While the Power didn't make the play-offs, Blair helped with the development of the likes of young guns Botond Hajos, Mitchell Knight, Tyler Allen and Lachlan Wilmot, among others.

His communicative skills as a school teacher assisted him in his role as a coach and mentor.

Blair was also there at most Thursday night junior matches.

He didn't have to be, because of where the family lives, some 90-minutes from Kev Broome Stadium.

But he was there, because of the person he was.

It was typical of Blair and people were fortunate to know him.

              Team Rumours
Brisbane - Returning Anderson and all cast from last few years plus the addition of he Wilson brothers and Eustace from Ipswich big question is who will they get to replace Princeton Onone as heís playing G league now and will Rusty Dychart be back?
Spartans- Very quiet on the rumour mill but will be returning all from last year minus the White bros. Spartans spending big on the womenís and letting the men battle along.
Logan - new coach same team, literally returning every player from last season. Wonder if Luke Cann will inject some life into their motivation as word was Rucker was not a favourite amongst he players.
Ipswich - Returning Harvey and moving Legan on will lose Shelley, Wilson brothers and Eustace and Derkson back to Toowoomba. Will be young but if anyone can get them off the bottom of he ladder itís coach Chris, proven track record in QBL and wins everywhere he goes.
Toowoomba - Derkson and Legan and Jalil thatís a potent offensive unit plus the cast of regulars, New coach new direction hinge looking positive up the mountain.
Gold Coast - No news and after spending all that money last year canít imagine hey will trot out anything new, wooden spooners at this stage.
North Gold Coast - Tricky Ricky as coach and his high octane SBL squad plus 2 legit imports, expect massive upsets from this group all year.
SunnyCoast Phoenix - No Hill and not sure they can afford the types of mega budget squad they had last year, another pizza and another year under the significant belt for coach Hasslehurst and expect them to be on the rise and rise.
SunnyCoast R.I.P. - Arousi was sublime last year and masterful on the sidelines, returning full squad plus a quality big man yet to be named and these guys are clearly a Top 4 squad.
Gladstone- Walmsly has locked in a super tough and experienced crew, his super ability mixed with a stud led line up here guys are now a legit force.
Mackay - unchanged roster and is able to bring Walker back on longevity clause as approved at recent AGM by QBL clubs, no injury to Bruce this time around and theyíll sweep any competition.
Townsville - Letís face it got lucky, but you make your own luck, not sure if any changes other than adding a great defender in Corban and these guys should be the outright favourites.
Cairns - No Pearlman no worries, expect a legit NBL quality team being top 3 again.
Rocky - Signing Ray and keeping core these guys are trying to add another championship and believe me they have the money to do it.
              Cant wait for the season.

PS also asking for a friend can they start giving it a regular season championship just asking for a friend.
